Finding Inspiration in a Pair of Vintage Shoes

Sometimes, inspiration is found in unexpected places.  In this case, it was found in a pair of orange and magenta pumps.  Epic vintage pumps.  Pumps that inspired an entire spring clothing collection.

These are the vintage Jeffrey Campbell shoes I found in a shop on Melrose.  My heart skipped a beat or two as I greedily grabbed them from the shelf.  They were on sale, half off.  They were exactly my size.  There was no way they weren’t coming home with me. Also, I need a pedicure. Clearly, I couldn’t wait to get them on my hot little feet.

There was also a matching Russian hat that made its way into my bag. I’m not sure exactly what I was thinking purchasing that, but I’m blaming my lack of judgment on the shoes and nostalgic memories of my freshman college roommate.

As soon as I returned home, I started research on a new collection for Spring. I consulted a few of my favorite vintage pattern making books.

And then there was sketching….

And there was fitting on my dress form….

I’m planning a special blog post for each piece in the new collection, but for now, I’ll leave you all with a picture of one of my outfits with my city in the background.
