Wrap Scrap Toddler Quilt
I know quite a few of you were wanting to see what I was planning on doing with all those wrap scraps!
Well, I did nothing but sew all weekend to create this toddler quilt for Andrew (sorry, it won’t be for sale in my shop). It ended up being about 40″ x 56″ all finished. I still need to find some fabric for the back and will be hand quilting it together. But that could take a month, and I didn’t want to keep you waiting that long. So here are the pics of the finished top. I used a modified version of the pattern “Around the Block” in Summer 2009 “Kids Quilts.” I say modified because I screwed up and didn’t want to unpick half the blocks at 2 am.

And a couple closeups…

Overall, so far, I’m entirely happy with how this is looking. The colors are bright and cheery without being overly bright. I love the random look of the pattern, too. And using those 2.5″ strips really allowed me to make the most use of my scraps.
And just to see who’s reading this far, let’s have a little contest. I’ll leave the comments open until Friday, midnight. Leave a comment with ALL the names of the wraps I used. Be careful!! There’s more there than you might think! I’ll pick a random winner out of all the correct comments and award a $15 gift certificate to my store or 2 pairs of bamboo socks in your choice of color/size… you choose! Couple of hints: all the scraps are 100% cotton and they are all Didymos wraps. Here’s a link to a bigger picture if the blog pics aren’t quite big enough to tell all of them.
Have fun!
Antique Rose Show
I’m loving these gauze skirts. They are so cute and twirly…perfect for any princess. They dye up so nicely, too. This is a child’s size 6, but rest assured I’ve ordered more in sizes 2T on up! I just can’t get enough of these.
This one’s a soft petal pink into a deep old rose color. So pretty and feminine.

Available Friday noon in the shop!
Well, that was quick
Well, you ladies cleared that stock fast! I’ve got just a couple more blanks in stock to dye, but I’m placing another order tonight with more sizes. Weee…this is fun!
And psssttt…..I’ve also got a couple doll sized chiara’s on the way.
Shop Scheduled to Open Tuesday, Noon EDT!
You can take a look at the shop to see what will be available, starting tomorrow, noon EDT.
Sorry there is not alot to choose from just yet, but I’ve been working on some tester products and new techniques. Please feel free to let me know what styles/sizes you’d like to see in the future. Feel free to leave a comment here or email me.
The custom wrap spots will remain out of stock for a couple weeks at least as I am really looking forward to a break from that at this time. Plus, my pfau needs a bath, too!
I’ll be sure to post here before making items available to give everyone a head’s up.
And I have to say a BIG thank you to Kristin for making this all possible. She’s been working very hard on the blog, gallery and shop. Without her, you would not be seeing all this fun stuff at all.
Thanks for looking!
Happy Birthday, Andrew!
Well, Monday is Andrew’s second birthday, so I spent some time baking a cake this weekend for a party tonight. I didn’t get much dyeing done, otherwise. Though, turns out, I’m much better at dyeing wraps than I am at dyeing frosting.
Anyways, little man loves nothing more in life than cars, so it seemed fitting he should get a “car” cake for his birthday. Trust me, this picture does not do justice to this atrocious excuse of a cake. The frosting is so bright it practically glows in the dark. Reminds me of neon Play-Doh.
Here is the finished cake in all its neon glory:

I was most appalled when DH allowed him to lick it. Sigh. Boys are gross.

Happy Memorial Day!
